ZAMBIA netball team coach Pauline Nsombwe has predicted a tough match against Uganda when the two sides clash tomorrow in a Pool B opening match at the 2014 Africa Netball Championship in Botswana.
Nsombwe said in an interview from Gaborone yesterday that Zambia will not be intimidated by playing a Ugandan side that is ranked fourth on the continent compared to her team that is fifth position.
She expressed happiness with the team determination and commitment during training and that everyone was looking forward to nice tournament starting with a win over Uganda to kick-start the target of securing qualification to the World Cup finals.
“On paper Uganda is highly ranked than us but on the courts we shall show what Zambia is capable of doing. We have come here to win and we shall not be intimidated by any opponents. We expect a tough from Uganda but we shall be equal to the task,” she said.
Nsombwe said the team will aim at making the semi finals before setting the target of winning the tournament to seal a slot at the World Cup finals to be held in Australia from August 7 to 16 next year.
Meanwhile, Netball Association of Zambia (NAZ) general secretary Pritchard Ngoma in an interview yesterday said the association had confidence that the team would put up a good performance and win the tournament. Malawi have already qualified.
