SKAZ threatens to cancel Japan trip

The Shotokan Karate Association of Zambia has threatened to call off the trip to Japan due to poor feedback from sponsors.
The Zambian team comprises Ernest Musenge, Lombe Lombe of Mufulira’s Chawama
Club, Robert Chisenga and Asa Chibeka of Ndola’s YMCA, Freelance Washeni, Melvin Siwale, Lloyd Siluyeli, from the Zambia National Service (ZNS) in  Lusaka.
Others are Nakambala Karatekas Mike Siazilo, Cryton Nyangu, Pesa Mufala while Jeff Kashiko of Nchanga and Annette Mpundu of Mukungo barracks that was drawn from various clubs are scheduled to leave for the 2014 karate world championship in October.
SKAZ general secretary Justin Chemba said in an interview yesterday that the association would have a review meeting on the trip on the 27 September 2014.
He said that they were hoping to have one sponsor come on board to help secure money for logistics and transport for at least five participants and one official.
“If only a Good Samaritan can come to our aid by assisting us with k150, 000, we will send five players along with one official to represent us,” Chemba said.
Meanwhile SKAZ has scheduled to hold the 2014 Shotokan open championship in Kitwe at ndeke hall on 27 September.
The development was announced by SKAZ general secretary Justine Chemba in an interview yesterday. He  said the championship would be open for all clubs across the country.
