‘MIGHTY’ Mufulira Wanderers on Wednesday re-ignited their promotional bid back to the elite league after beating Chindwin Sentries in a rescheduled FAZ Division One North Week 27 fixture to move within touching distance of leaders Forest Rangers.
The match played at Shinde Stadium in Mufulira saw Progress Kalenga’s score the only goal of the match to push Wanderers up to 48 points, same as second placed Kalulushi Modern Stars and two adrift Forest with seven games remaining before the close of the season while Chindwin are stuck on 29 points.
Coach Manfred Chabinga praised his side for bouncing back to winning ways after a poor run of results and that he was targeting winning the remaining games to earn promotion to the Premier League next season.
“I am very happy with this result, the team is focused and we have to keep fighting till the end of the season. The spirit in the team is high and every player is looking forward for promotion to premier league.
We have four home and three away games, so I think we have to get maximum points to make it. It’s time for Wanderers to get back to the elite league,” Chabinga said.
