The greatest trick the devil ever pulled is twofold, on the one hand he has managed to convince civilized mankind that he does not exist, that he is a figment and hangover from the age of superstition and ignorance; on the other hand he has placed so much fear in superstitious people that they dread him and fear him so much as to not do anything without mentioning his name!
The reality is this, the devil is real, and he has great power, however, his power is in check by the Almighty. He can only do what he has been permitted to do and has no power over any life, person or object unless authorized by the Most High.
So, where then am I getting to? I want to show you this; firstly, the Almighty has not left us without clues. In fact, He has shown us all the tricks and strategies of the enemy so that those that choose to be wise by heeding His warnings can escape and be safe.
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live

Why then have I chosen such a title? In order to justify that title, I need to define the words therein these being deadly, spells and the abyss.
The Oxford Dictionary describes deadly as causing or able to cause death. A Spell is a form of words used as a magical charm or incantation that places the hearer or subject under mental or physical control and influence of the spell caster. The Bible defines the abyss as the abode of demons and satanic forces of darkness. It is here where Jesus sent the demons that possessed the man from Gadarenes. (Luke 8:30-31)
In this world today, the devil has been at work because he realizes that his era will soon elapse. Being what he is, he wants to take as many as possible with him to hell. He does not care about mankind nor does he love them, but instead hates them with a passion and wants to see their total demise and destruction. In order to be effective, the devil has always used deception since Adam and Eve and has been at work with this for a long time. He has gotten craftier and more subtle today than ever before and this is no surprise, for the Lord Himself warns us that in the last days there shall appear those that claim to be the Christ and operate in power, signs and wonders with such effectiveness that if it were possible, they would deceive even the elect of God!
This series of articles that shall come over the next few weeks serves to warn you and help you stay alert and see his tricks and as the adage states, forewarned is forearmed!
The Spells
There are many but can be categorised into seven major spells. These are evolution, eroticism, skepticism, humanism, the entertainment industry, romanticism and pantheism. Remember, what does a spell do? It causes one to come under the influence either mentally or physically or both of the spell-caster to bring them to do their will. Simply put, the spell will lead those that are victims of it away from doing the will of God.
How do they work?
Evolution eliminates God as creator and propagates that we came by chance, that all boils down to survival of the fittest. As such all that goes on is survival and evolution of the species from one stage to the next.
Eroticism glorifies the human body and the flesh. It justifies base and carnal living on the basis of yielding to our more ignoble drives without recourse to moral and social consequences.
Skepticism questions everything and demands a logical answer trampling on faith and trust, great cornerstones of our belief in God’s promises found in His word.
Humanism places man at the center of all development and self-propagation. Man has the power to be god and is god. All starts and ends in man as all culminates and is made whole in man. Thus, God has no role in where mankind ends, it all lies with man.
The entertainment industry has Music and Cinema that play to dull people from realizing and abhorring sin in whichever form it comes. Movies move emotions and touch the heart so as to make one have empathy for something they abhorred before. Through film and music subjects like homosexuality, lesbianism, adultery, sex, drugs, alcohol and extreme blood and gore are made to look chic.
Romanticism worships and holds emotions above all logic and reason. If it feels okay then it is right. Whether its adultery, fornication or murder, what matters most is how you feel.
Pantheism makes everything out to be God regardless of what it may be. Everything is God and God is everything.
So, what is the will of God? Oversimplified, it is the law of God. This is what God has given us as a guide to live right with Him. This we do by submitting our will to His will by accepting Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. The Bible tells us that all men have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. In short, we can never be able to stand by the virtue of our “rightness” with God because we are inherently sinful. But by His blood (Jesus) and His Word (Jesus) and His Spirit, we can live right by Him and fulfill the requirements of the law through righteousness. Therefore we are now sons and heirs with Him, in Him and through Him; we have dominion and power over all forces of darkness!
This the devil knows, but that will not stop him from devising plans on a continual basis to bring mankind under his spell and thus get them on the “highway to hell”. If you want to escape being part of that large number on the way to hell, then prayerfully read this and reflect. My prayer is that the Holy Spirit will be poured out over your life and cause your mind to gain revelation over this material and lead you to the light of His word and the Truth of His Spirit.
For those that may not understand what revelation means, I will give you the simplified definition of it, this being to come into focus. If your view was blurred before and you could not make out what was in front of you, then revelation causes all to become clear and in focus! Think of a camera, if an image is blurred, you can make out that there are objects there, like people, colors and general features (fat, slim, dark, light etc.) but when the image is brought into focus, you will be able to recognize what you are looking at! Revelation is the same! Without it you may see words, pictures and hear sounds but only when it comes do you actually get the meaning behind the words and pictures and even recognize whose voice it is!
May God grant you revelation over this material, not just head knowledge! In our circles we say, may you get the Rhema (revealed) word, not just the Logos (understood) word!
