A KITWE magistrate’s court has advised youths against watching pornographic movies and abusing drugs as they tend to corrupt their morals.
Magistrate Densen Muchaba said it was sad that young people were fond of watching pornographic materials and using medicines that disturb their hormones.
Mr Muchaba made the remarks when he convicted a 15-year-old boy of Kitwe who defiled a four-year-old girl in January this year.
The boy was accused of dragging the helpless girl to an unfinished building where he had sex with her.
In delivering Judgment, Mr Muchaba said cases of defilement were on the increase due to watching pornographic materials that tend to corrupt young children.
“The problem with you children is the things you watch and the medicines you are drinking, others even end up raping their own parents. The trend should stop,” Mr Muchaba said.
Mr Muchaba noted that the girl’s mother had testified that after examining the victim, she discovered that the girl was bruised and had swollen private parts.
He further noted that during the act, the boy was spotted by someone who went to the building but that the boy got incensed and started throwing stones at the passer-by.
The matter was adjourned to October 10.
