Luapula boy (10) falls off truck

A TEN-YEAR-OLD boy of Mwansabombwe District has died after falling off?a moving light truck he was trying to cling onto.
Luapula Province Police chief Malcolm Mulenga said James Ilunga?of Salanga Village in Chief Kazembe’s area in Mwansabombwe died on?Saturday around 14:20 hours after he fell off a moving Mitsubishi?Canter registration number ALF 1266 at Salanga area on Kazembe -Mwense Road.
The accident happened when the boy jumped onto the moving canter and then fell off it.
The light truck was being driven by Evans Bupe, 33, of Kampampi Village in Chief Kambwali’s area in Nchelenge District.
‘‘When he was trying to cling on to the moving vehicle, he fell off and he was run over on his right leg and sustained a fractured leg. He was rushed to Mbereshi Mission Hospital where he later died,’’ he said.
The body of the boy is scheduled to undergo postmortem and the driver of the canter is still in Police custody to help with investigations.
Meanwhile, Police in Milenge in Luapula Province have picked a body of a mental patient who went missing about a month ago.
Mr Mulenga confirmed the death of Abel Kashiba of Lunga Village in Chief Sonkotwe’s area.
The body of Kashiba was found in a decomposed state in the bush in Katena area around 10:00 hours yesterday and has since been buried.
Police have since launched investigations into the matter, as they suspect Mr Kashiba was murdered.
