THE Japanese Government has given Zambia a K522, 000 grant for the construction of a new community
school in Kabwata Constituency’s Mahopo Township.
Japanese Ambassador to Zambia Kiyoshi Koinuma said the grant would have a positive enduring impact on many lives in the area as it would improve the quality of education.
Speaking during the signing of a grant contract with Civic Forum on Housing and Habitat in Lusaka yesterday, Mr Koinuma urged the people of Mahopo to utilise and maintain the structures well.
He hailed Government for the continued support for the education sector.
The education sector, he added, was critical in contributing to the development of the country.
Civic Forum on Housing and Habitat Board chairperson Joseph Musanje called on the Ministry of Education to help the school with learning materials and teachers.
He said the construction of the school would see more than 500 children gain access to classrooms.
Kabwata Member of Parliament, Given Lubinda said the construction of the school would enable children in the community attend school within their proximity.
