THE Zambia Body Building and Fitness Federation (ZBBFF) has raised K42, 000 towards staging of the 2014 Mr. Independence contest to be held at Savoy Hotel in Ndola on October 23.
ZBBFF president Danny Mkandawire said in an interview yesterday that the federation had been left with a deficit of K10, 000 and commend the companies for coming forward to help stage the event.
“We are glad that the corporate world has taken up the responsibility to support the event and would like to urge them to keep up with the same spirit. The competitors should take the event seriously as it is part of the jubilee celebrations for our beloved country and so we expect a good show,” Mkandawire said.
Meanwhile, Mkandawire said preparations for the Africa Bodybuilding Contest that will take place in South Africa on October 26, were progressing well.
He said Sylvester Mwila and Honest Muyubi would leave on October 24 after participating in the Mr Independence contest which the duo will use as part of preparation for the continental championship.
Mkandawire said all was set for the two musclemen to compete at the Africa Contest as the K25, 000 budget that was set to facilitate for their travel had already been secured through individual sponsors.
“The two body builders are shaping up well in their various gyms and they are eager to face their opponents in South Korea,” he said.
