Greetings, I do hope you are fine, and have had a fabulous week as I have had.
The biggest event in the fashion calendar was happening this week and that’s the Zambia Fashion Week.
The current edition of Zambia Fashion Week started in 2011 and has grown by leaps and bounds pioneered by the indomitable Karen Nakawala.
She deserves credit for giving fashion designers a platform to showcase their work; something highly commendable.
The greatest proof of this is in the fact that last year the fashion week had 15 designers and this year it has 48 designers with a special appearance by 5 foreign designers.
This year’s theme is Freedom to Create and this is basically in line with Zambia’s jubilee celebrations.
Thursday was the beginning of the show and yours truly was there as MC dressed in Kutowa designs with my hair styled and managed by the ladies from Zed Hair.
The first night had 13 fashion designers in total most among them Smart Phiri of Smart Designs, Yvus Designs, Innocent Angels, Revolution Designs, E.M designs, D Daisys Designs and Theresas Designs.
The other designers of the night where M’s designs, Maitre jean exclusive, Kasslita designs, Rock Angels and the two emerging designers of the night Leeman Malaula (Vitenge ma Boys ) and Mwanje Mukalasha (Mwanjes destiny).
Vitenge ma Boys where the curtain raisers of the night and there are outfits received an amazing response with their guys outfits.
The male models walked out topless slicked in oil and wearing chitenge shorts and trousers.
Mwanje’s designs was also a hit and received an applause with her collection, it was inspiring to see people in attendance receptive to the emerging designers.
Smart Phiri’s collection was among the highlights of the of the evening especially when his plus size models walked out in revealing cloth.
The outfits were unique in that most designers usually do not put plus size models in reveling outfits nevertheless the outfits were tastefully done.
I really do not want to bore you much and would rather let the pictures speak for themselves.
All the photos are courtesy of Mafasho who run a fashion blog, many thanks to them for providing the pictures.
Next week I will also post up pictures of the last two days of the fashion week and I promise that you will be just as blown away.

What’s next in the fashion this month is the Zed Natural Hair meet up on the 1st of November at Umoyo.
That’s it for this week, stay beautifully healthy this week.
