THE Zambia Congress of Trade Unions, (ZCTU) will hold countrywide demonstrations on October 31 against the wage freeze on the civil service in the proposed 2015 national Budget.
ZCTU President Leonard Hikaumba said in an interview in Lusaka that the union would proceed with its intentions to demonstrate over the wage freeze.
He said the decision to demonstrate was arrived at by the unions’ mother body and its affiliates.
The labour movement would also hold a peaceful demonstration at Parliament Buildings on the day to oppose the continuation of the wage freeze.
Mr Hikaumba said the unions would continue demonstrating until Government lifts the wage freeze.
“We shall hold demonstrations against the wage freeze throughout the country and in Lusaka it will be done at the National Assembly,” he said.
