A RESIDENT of Mulilansolo Village in Chief Mubanga’s area in Chinsali has died after he was beaten by his brother in a quarrel over nshima.
Danny Chikula, 30, died after allegedly being beaten by his brother Patrick using a wooden object when the duo picked up a quarrel over nshima on Wednesday last week.
Chilinda Ward PF councillor Laurent Mpundu said the incident happened when Danny picked a quarrel with his brother and their father around 21:00 hours.
Patrick then picked up a stick to hit his father but his older brother intervened and Danny ended up being hit for his troubles, resulting into his death.
Mr Mpundu confirmed this during the Nkweto Kasonka Independence soccer and netball tournament at Mulilansolo Primary School in Chinsali.
Nkweto Kasonka, a resident of the same area and a promoter of the football and netball cup, expressed concern over the continued brutal killings in the rural parts of Chinsali.
Mr Kasonka said the lack of Police presence had greatly contributed to high level of crime in the area.
He wondered why the existing structure in the area could not be utilised as a Police post, while awaiting a new Police building.
