Blast from the pastBorn in 1949, Mugala was a powerful striker with blistering pace and shooting power. Mugala featured for Roan United before joining Ndola United where he made his name.
Zambia coach, Ante Buselic was impressed with his striking prowess and called him up to the KK11.
‘Zamcab’ as he was fondly called featured in Zambia’s FIFA 1974 World Cup qualifier against Ethiopia.
Having lost the first leg 1-0, Zambia turned on the heat to win 4-2 on aggregate.
Mugala, who was Footballer of the Year at Ndola United in his prime time, also scored four goals against Uganda when Zambia won 4-2 in a 1978 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
He is also founder member of Zesco United, the team he once coached.
Mugala is now a business executive based in Kasama after retiring from Zesco Limited.
