A FIFTEEN-YEAR-OLD boy is battling for his life at Kitwe Central Hospital (KCH) after he was shot in the chest by another teenager in Garnetone area.
The boy had gone to quarry sand at the other 17-year-old boy’s farm when the latter picked up a gun and fired shots.
The suspect fired five rounds and one of the bullets caught the victim in the chest, inflicting serious wounds.
Copperbelt Commissioner of Police Joyce Kasosa said the incident happened on Wednesday.
Preliminary information indicated that the victim was quarrying sand within the farm belonging to the suspect’s parents on Wednesday morning around 06:00 hours.
Ms Kasosa said upon spotting the fellow quarrying sand, the suspect picked up a rifle and fired five shots.
“We have apprehended a 17-year-old teenage for shooting a fellow teenager in the chest whom he wounded and is currently admitted to Kitwe Central Hospital,” Ms Kasosa said.
