By JAMES KUNDA –

NEELKANTH Group of companies has invested US$16 million in the establishment of a five-star hotel apartment in Lusaka.
Neelkanth group executive Gopal Kedia said in an interview yesterday that construction of the facility had commenced and was set for completion in 2016.
He said the construction phase of the hotel had created 40 jobs and additional employment opportunities would be created when it opens for business.
“We are building a five-star hotel in Lusaka near Manda Hill area worth $16 million and we expect that construction will be done by 2016 to open for business,” he said
Mr Kedia said Neelkanth had diversified its operations in Zambia with the construction of a copper-cable manufacturing plant set for commissioning in January, 2015.
This is in addition to a lime manufacturing plant that is already operational in Masaiti district on the Copperbelt Province.
The cable manufacturing project will be one way of adding value to the copper produced in Zambia, while the lime plant is already producing significant stocks of the commodity, supplying local and foreign markets.
Neelkanth has operations in Mozambique, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.
