On the entrance of the Solwezi, there is an inscription on a police bill board which reads; ‘I pledge to maintain a high level of integrity, honest, ethical conduct and expertise in my performance of police functions to the people of Zambia and visitors.
But the conduct of some police traffic officers in Solwezi is unethical and unprofessional.
They always mount check points at month ends when teachers and miners get paid.
There are situations where advice can be given, like not wearing seat belts for those at the back seat, but the police demand a K200 and when you speak out, they grab your keys.
When they perceive miners and teachers monies is finished which is within a week or so, check points will vanish apart from the ones conducted by the Road Transport and Safety Agency that are not frequent.
This must come to a stop because accidents do not only occur at month ends but any other day.
