Scales of Justice - bigBy MARILYN ROSE –
A NINE-YEAR-OLD girl has testified in a Kitwe magistrates’ court how she was allegedly defiled with two other girls by a 17-year-old boy.
The girl, of Bulangililo Township, was allegedly defiled together with her four-year-old sister and her friend, also aged four, on different occasions.
The boy would later offer the girls lemons and chalk on every occasion.
The 17-year-old, also of Bulangililo Township, has been charged with defilement of the three girls on September 26 this year.
The girl told magistrate Densen Muchaba that on one occasion around 16:00 hours, while playing around Eagle Wings School premises, the boy, who resides within the same premises, called them inside the building and asked her to undress.
She narrated that he had sex with her while the other two girls watched before he turned on them as well.
The court heard that the boy had sex with the three girls on different occasions each time there was no one at home and would ask them not to tell anyone.
She told the court that she did not like what the boy used to do to her and that she experienced pain all the time.
The girl’s grandmother also testified that she became aware of the girls’ ordeal after the older grandchild informed her of what the boy had been doing to them.
After confronting the boy, he denied the allegations, saying the girls would have not been walking properly had it been true.
She testified that in one instance, she saw the girls coming from the boy’s house and after checking their private parts, noticed they were swollen and enlarged.
She said the girls were taken to the hospital and the matter was reported to the police.
The case comes up tomorrow for continued hearing.
In another court, two men have been sentenced to seven years imprisonment with hard labour for kidnapping a six-year-old boy.
Senior resident magistrate Daniel Musonda sent to jail Mark Kataya, 29, and Moffat Mwape, 19, who were charged with child abduction.
The duo took a child out of custody and against the will of its mother on July 29 this year and later demanded for K25,000 from the child’s parents as ransom in exchange for the child.
