CHIEF Mwanachingwala, of the Tonga speaking people in Mazabuka District, has suffered a stroke and is currently admitted to Nakambala Sugar Estate clinic.

Southern Province Minister, Daniel Munkombwe on Thursday visited the traditional leader who was reported to have been admitted to the clinic on Tuesday.

Mr Munkombwe said in an interview that the chief was responding well to treatment and the health personnel were closely monitoring his condition.

“Our chief suffered a stroke but I found him recovering well and he was able to talk to me,” he said.

Mr Munkombwe said there was no need for people to panic because the traditional leader was recuperating.

Meanwhile, Chief Nalubamba of the Ila people of Namwala District, who was admitted to Choma General Hospital on Tuesday after suffering suspected anaemia and malaria, was discharged on Wednesday.
