STRIKER Given Singuluma says his target is to make the Chipolopolo starting 11 at the Equatorial Guinea 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals after missing the last two editions.
Singuluma, who was last picked for the Angola 2010 AFCON finals but was unused as a substitute, said he was confident that this time around he will be on the final list of players coach Honour Janza will pick.
The TP Mazembe player has just returned from a hamstring injury having missed his club action for the past three weeks.
“I have really worked hard and I am 100 per cent confident that I will make the final 26 players to be picked for the AFCON finals. I hope and pray that I go to the 2015 AFCON finals and to be given a chance to play because last time I didn’t play in Angola,” he said.
Singuluma, who joined the national team camp on Saturday, said he was in high spirits and that it was wonderful to be back in training with his teammates who are all geared to perform well at the tournament.
He added that he wants to put up a good performance at the tournament in a bid to help him break into other league.
“I still have contractual obligation with TP Mazembe but I want to work hard and have a chance to go to a better club,” Singuluma said.
Janza said his target at the AFCON finals will be to reach the semi-finals and get closer to winning the cup adding that the key will be getting a positive result in every game.
“Our tactical focus is to get positive results because if we did that in the last three AFCON qualifiers, then we can also do it in Equatorial Guinea. As a hunter, you do not go into the bush with a target of killing a rabbit, we will also do our best to get closer to winning the cup,” Janza said.
Meanwhile, striker Ronald ‘Sate Sate’ Kampamba, Donashano Malama and Lubambo Musonda trained separately from their colleagues due to some knocks picked up.
Janza said Lubambo had picked a minor knock while Kampamba and Malama were on a recovery programme having played more than 55 games this season.
