THE Alliance for Better Zambia (ABZ) has urged Zambians to continue praying for political parties that experienced wrangles and divisions in the process of adopting a candidate for the forthcoming presidential election.

ABZ leader Father Frank Bwalya said Zambians from various religions should continue praying for political parties to foster peace in the country.

Fr Bwalya said some political parties and some sections of the media were disappointed to see warring factions reconcile.

He said ABZ was aware that some opposition political parties and some sections of the media who desire that the Patriotic Front (PF) lose the forthcoming presidential election have been praying and scheming for the continuation of hostilities in the governing party.

“Our call for continued prayers comes as a result of stories by some sections of the media that are disappointed to see warring factions especially in the PF to reconcile and choose to work together as a united family.

“Our call is also prompted by statements from some opposition political parties who have been praying for the continuation of squabbles in PF and the Movement for Multiparty Democracy (MMD),” he said.

Fr Bwalya said it was ABZ’s hope and prayer that all religions in the country would not allow those who have been praying for confusion in political parties to succeed.

The ABZ leader urged all Zambians them to continue praying for the success of the reconciliation in PF and MMD and that the healing process in the two political parties bears fruit.

He further advised senior members of the PF to avoid making statements that may easily be misconstrued and used to create the impression that the wrangles in their party were still rife.

Fr Bwalya said senior members of the PF should realise that those opposed to the reconciliation in PF including some opposition political parties were bent on fomenting discord in PF for their own selfish ends.
