K83m released for Lukulu village banking

COMMUNITY  Development, Mother and Child Health Ministry through the department of community development in Lukulu in Western Province has released K83 million for the village banking programme.
Community Development village banking officer Given Beenzu said this money will be given to women’s groups as soft loans.
Mr Beenzu said about 50 clubs have been targeted to kick start the project in Mwandi and Kamilende wards.
Mr Beenzu said this during the senior management meeting for district heads of government Department and parastatal institutions held at the council chambers.
He said recipients are women who are already in business saying that the village banking monies are not meant for starting up businesses.
Mr Beenzu said the beneficiaries would be required to make weekly payments of their loans in order for the department to keep on giving other recruitments.
He added that the department will be making weekly monitoring visits to the beneficiaries in order to address some of their challenges. — ZANIS
