By SANDRA MWILA –
CHIPOLOPOLO vice-captain Nathan Sinkala says the team will strive to reach the semi-finals at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Equatorial Guinea which kicks off on January 17.
Sinkala said in an interview in Lusaka yesterday before departure for South Africa where the team would set camp in readiness for AFCON that the Chipolopolo would do its best to get positive results.
“I can’t say we are going to Equatorial Guinea to reclaim the cup but at least we shall do our best to reach the semi-finals,” he said.
He said Honour Janza’s 27-member provisional squad was a good blend of players and capable of delivering desired results.
“Janza’s 27-man squad is an excellent selection and I am positive that every player selected is good enough to help the team get positive results,” he said.
Sinkala said the team was ready to ‘die a little’ for Zambia as the players knew what was at stake as they head to the AFCON.
The Chipolopolo midfielder urged his teammates to be disciplined and focused as they begin the final phase of preparations.
He said it was not time for the players to relax after making it into the provisional squad as the team still needed to work hard to achieve positive results.
Zambia is set to play an international friendly against Bafana Bafana at Orlando Stadium in Johannesburg on January 4.
