THE dawn of this brand New Year should herald that time of rededication and ought to revive hopes for all citizens for better life in the next 12 months.
The New Year should be used individually and collectively as the period for recommitment to various ideals and values of this nation with a pledge for all to work harder in 2015.
Yes, there is need for Zambians to recommit themselves to unity, hard work, patriotism and love for one another while soldiering on.
The nation could do with more people working towards uniting it while working hard to ensure productivity and massive production in various sectors of the economy.
The 2015 should be viewed with revived hopes while everyone should pledge to work harder than they did last year.
There is equally need to enhance patriotism and love for one another by working at reducing the differences while augmenting the shared values.
Zambians, as a people, have more factors which unite them than those which divide them!
To move into 2015 purposefully, there is need for all to look back and count the experiences of the foregoing year 2014.
Surely, as people go about reaffirming their annual resolution, they should also look back and review their 2014 resolutions ascertaining which ones have been fulfilled and those which have not.
There is need to learn from the 2014 mistakes while cherishing the achievements made during the year.
On our part, as we reflect on the happenings of 2014, we want to take some time to just pay tribute to our readers, advertisers and other cooperating partners who supported us throughout the year.
In the foregoing year, like in any other years, there were some challenges which we, however, weathered with continued support from our cooperating partners in the name of readers, advertisers and other well-wishers.
It has not been painless, but it was worth it anyway and would give us the impetus to move on with more determination.
In our efforts to serve everyone better, we have had to make various changes to the quality of the editorial contents in line with the demand from our esteemed readers.
We have had also to relook at our position as a public media house vis-à-vis our role in a multiparty democracy that Zambia is.
We may not have performed to everyone’s expectation but a fresh start has been made and we feel that with the support from all and sundry we can do even better.
As a way forward, we join other nationals in recommitting ourselves to nation-building and the promotion of love for this nation.
We pledge to continue, objectively but fearlessly, upholding our professionalism and the need to enhance development journalism.
In thanking God for this New Year, we would like to challenge all to take some time to reflect on the events of 2014.
Some of these happenings could invoke happy memories while others, obviously, bring into play the sad recollections.
This is reason enough for people to thank God! All the people reading this today should thank God for making it possible for them to have crossed over to 2015 from 2014 when many beloved ones are no more.
