Milenge hubby kills wife

A NEW YEAR’S Day outing ended tragically for a woman of Milenge District of Luapula Province when she was allegedly beaten to death by her husband.
Kentina Chimpwala, 31, of Konkoshola Village in Chief Sokontwe’s area in Milenge died after she was allegedly beaten by her husband Dought Mwila.
Police capLuapula Province Police Chief Malcolm Mulenga said yesterday that Ms Chimpwala went out to drink beer on New Year’s Day and her husband, Mwila, also went out to a different drinking place.
“Later in the night around 20:45 hours, the husband arrived home earlier than the wife. He didn’t know where she was and when she got home, he beat her up,” Mr Mulenga said.
Mwila allegedly used his fists and kicks and she died immediately.
Ms Chimpwala’s body was taken to Samfya General Hospital mortuary while Mwila has been arrested and charged with murder.
Meanwhile, an 11-year-old boy of Mansa has died after he was hit by a Mitsubishi Pajero on the Mansa-Chembe Road.
Mr Mulenga said the accident happened on Thursday around 20:20 hours at Samba Village on the Mansa-Chembe Road.
The Government owned Mitsubishi Pajero, registration number GRZ 327CE, which was being driven by Richard Kaonga, 37, of Musenga Site and Service in Mansa hit Elvis Muleya of Suburbs Township in Mansa who was crossing the road.
Elvis died on the spot and the vehicle has been impounded.
