Choma juvenile pleads guilty to stealing K20,000

A  SEVENTEEN-YEAR-old boy of Choma has pleaded guilty for stealing K20,000.
The teenager is among the six juveniles aged 12, 13, 17, 18, 18 and 19 charged with six counts of thefts from various motorists who are residents of Zambia Township in Choma.
They were last week arrested by police for allegedly stealing property from different motor vehicles using a master-key to unlock the vehicles.
On Monday, the juveniles appeared before Choma Magistrate Mbololwa Mukela for plea to the six counts of thefts slapped on them.
The 17-year-old boy, jointly and while acting together with his five counterparts, in the first count, on December 12, 2014, in Choma, allegedly stole K20, 000 from a Toyota Hilux with registration number ALG 626, the property of Patrick Mpokoso.
In second count, on December 13, 2014, they allegedly stole K10, 40, from a Nissan vehicle with registration number AKB 1026, belonging to Pierson Phiri.
The juveniles, in the third count, on December 19, 2014, allegedly stole three cell phones, and a memory card all valued at K1, 550, from a motor vehicle with registration number ABD 1724, the property of Mwaka Hachoonga.
In the fourth count, on December 27, 2014, the juveniles allegedly stole one phone valued at K2, 200 from a Toyota with registration number ALE 7932 which belonged to Alex Shamani.
In the fifth count, on December 28, 2014, they allegedly stole a wallet and K320 cash from a Toyota Spacio with registration number ALD 5495, the property of Musenga Nyondo.
In the sixth count, on January 3, 2015, they allegedly stole one cell phone, one flash disk all valued at K2, 600 from a Toyota Corolla with registration number AKB 1109 which belonged to Maurice Mubita.
The 17-years-old juvenile who is in custody, told the court that he stole the K20, 000 because he wanted to raise money to start an investment.
Magistrate Mukela set February 2, 2015 as date for reading of the statement of facts to the boy while the other five who denied all the six counts would appear in court on February 3, 2015 for mention.
