LUSAKA – ZAMBIA Striker Patrick Ngoma has described his 20 minute taste of 2015 AFCON action as priceless.
The Zambia Under-20 and Red Arrows striker made his Africa Cup debut in Chipolopolo’s final Group B match against Cape Verde on January 26 in Ebebiyin that ended scoreless and saw both sides make an early exit from the competition.
Ngoma said he was now turning his focus to next months African Youth Championship outing with the Zambia Under-20 in Senegal.
“I played some minutes at the Africa Cup and I don’t feel like I failed and I know I can make it at that big stage,” Ngoma said.
Ngoma replaced his Zambia Under-20 team mate and midfielder Lubambo Musonda in the 70th minute and did not disappoint with some powerful runs that unsettled Cape Verde’s defence.
“This gives me great confidence and I’m looking forward to the African Under-20 championships,” Ngoma said.
Ngoma made Chipolopolo’s final 23-member team after inspiring the Zambia Under-20 to victory in the 2014 COSAFA Youth Championship in Zimbabwe.
The striker also won that tournament’s golden boot after scoring seven goals. – Mtnfootball
