THE 2015 Zambia Motor Sports Association (ZMSA) season gets underway today with the Madmax Rally in Chisamba.
This event will be spectacular as for the first time, the racing cars will be brought to Lusaka’s central business district on one of the busiest roads, Freedom Way
Freedom Way is one of the most difficult road to negotiate as it teems with all sorts of traffic ranging from human, motor vehicles, motorbikes, bicycles and street vendors.

But ZMSA technical director, Muna Singh said the human traffic would be the greatest asset to the Madmax Rally spectators’ stage.
“People love cars and it’s a bit unfortunate that the race takes place in the bush the people don’t easily see the races. So we have decided that in this season opening race, we are taking the mountain to Goliath by bringing the race cars to Freedom Way,” he said.
The Race will tomorrow go back to the bush at Graham Ray’s Farm in Chisamba.
Singh insisted, however, that safety would be paramount in the spectators’ stage which will be the qualifying round for tomorrow’s race.
In motor sport, the safety of the driver and then the fans tops the ‘Do’ list and Singh said there would be barricades as well as heavy police presence to control the crowds who would most likely get frenzy with the action.
There would be various competitions involved from speed race to spinning, a favourite for many motor sport fans especially the younger generation.
Freedom Way, formerly Stanley Road, will be closed off for a while to facilitate this rare occasion which will turn this road into spectacle of noise and smoke from tyres with ZMSA warning that “whatever will be seen and done by the professional drivers should not be tried at home.”
The monsters cars that took part in the Africa Rally Championship and the Zambia Championship will be on show with all the big names in the game expected to take part.
Defending national champion, Jassy Singh and his young brother Muna Junior will be taking part as well as 2014 runner up Geoffrey Chulu and  Mohammed Essa.
Others are the Ticklay brothers of Farook, Azmin and Yazdaan and 2014 Most Improved Driver, Miles Monge.
The Navigators in contention are Navigator of the Year,= Sajid Khan, runner up Laston Chulu, Adrian Sutherland and Jasmeen Singh, the sister to the Singhs.
