GOVERNMENT has handed over three vehicles to three districts in Central Province for the social cash transfer programme.
Central Province Minister Davis Chisopa said the Patriotic Front (PF) Government has the responsibility to take care of its citizens, especially the vulnerable.
Mr Chisopa said the main objective of the social cash transfer programme is to reduce extreme poverty and intergenerational transfer of poverty among beneficiary households.
He was speaking during the handover of the three vehicles in Kabwe yesterday to Chitambo, Itehzi tehzi and Kabwe districts.
Mr Chisopa said the vehicles would ease the movement of officers in delivering services.
Government remains committed to providing the necessary financial and technical support for effective implementation of the programme.
“As we are all aware, social cash programme is one of the effective tools for the achievement of sustainable economic growth,” Mr Chisopa said.
He added that households of beneficiaries who are able-bodied get K140 monthly while the disabled get K280 monthly.
