COACH Fighton Simukonda has received a boost following the return to training of midfielder Bruce Musakanya and two others ahead of the Congo Brazzaville 2015 All Africa Games final round return leg qualifier.
Musakanya missed Zambia’s 0-0 draw against Nigeria in Abuja due to a hamstring injury and was then left out of the Chipolopolo squad that beat Rwanda 2-0 in an international friendly match on Sunday.
The Red Arrows player was joined in training yesterday by strikers Spencer Sautu and Patrick Ngoma who had picked up knocks from the first leg.
Simukonda said the players were fit ahead of the match against Nigeria set for April 11 and that he was taking the match seriously because the West Africans will not be pushovers.
He said in an interview after a training session at the Heroes National Stadium that Zambia might have the advantage of playing at home but will need to change the game plan to beat Nigeria.
Simukonda said there was need to change the game plan that saw Zambia force a barren draw away in Abuja to overcome a Nigerian side that will be coming with the aim of winning the match.
“Nigeria is a strong team and we need to change our tactics if are to beat them and qualify for the finals. We have the advantage of playing at home but that should not make us relax but work hard to get the result,” he said.
Meanwhile, Simukonda said he was expecting the foreign based players to join camp by next week.
These include South Africa based midfielder Mukuka Mulenga, the Israel based duo of striker Evans Kangwa and defender Emmanuel Mbola, and striker Ronald ‘Sate Sate’ Kampamba.
