FOUR countries have so far confirmed participation in the Zambia Invitational Swimming Gala slated for April 28 at the American International School in Lusaka.
Zambia Amateur Swimming Union (ZASU) secretary Nicola–Sharpe Phiri named the countries as Malawi, Tanzania, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
Phiri said ZASU was ready to host the gala and that indicators were showing that Zambia will mint a lot of medals going by the preparations the swimmers have put in training.
She said Zambia will be represented by two teams-A and B side, and that each team will have 30 swimmers.
“We are very excited because it’s been two years since we had the Zambia invitational gala. We are ready and we are confident we will do well. I am positive that some records will be broken and medals will be won,” she said.
Phiri said the competition will have swimmers as young as eight years old through to 17 years of age.
She said there was need for Zambia to prepare adequately because countries that will be coming for the gala will have good competitors eyeing the same medals.
