SOUTHERN Province Permanent Secretary Annie Sinyangwe yesterday appeared in court for awarding a contract worth K89, 208, 454.60 without following laid down procedures.
Sinyangwe, 48, of Lilayi Airstrip area, is charged with failure to comply with the law and applicable procedure relating to procurement.
She is alleged to have between January 1, 2012 and August 31, 2012 willfully failed to comply with the law and applicable procedure when she was Permanent Secretary Administration at Cabinet Office.
Sinyangwe awarded a contract for the paving of the cabinet office car park to Maoonstone Investment Limited valued at K89, 208, 454.60.
After the charge was read out to her by Lusaka Magistrate Lameck Mwale yesterday, Sinyangwe said although she understood the charge, she was not guilty.
Mr Mwale has since set May 8, 2015 as date of mention while trial will commence on May 28, 2015.
Sinyangwe was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Commission last week for failing to comply with procedure.
