Meanwhile, National Revolution Party president Cosmo Mumba was also taken to a police station after he allegedly caused havoc by removing a classroom poster from the wall where voting was taking place.
Gibson Kanisi of 295/17 B in Kuku Township was arrested for allegedly representing himself at a polling station as an election observer when he was not.
Another member, Kebby Ngumbu, who was a party agent at a polling station was allegedly nabbed for canvassing votes within the polling station.
Lusaka Province Police Chief Charity Katanga said in an interview yesterday that in the first incidence, Kanisi went to a polling station around 11:00 hours on Tuesday at Lumumba Market stream three at John Howard Community Hall and allegedly introduced himself as Kelvin Kashashe, a polling agent belonging to a Non-Governmental Organisation.
Ms Katanga said an electoral officer at the polling station, Clifford Sikanyati, insisted on identification when Kanisi was allegedly found to be carrying wrong identification.
He was taken to John Howard Police Station where he was charged with giving false information to an electoral officer.
The other UPND member Ngumbu was arrested for canvassing votes within 400 metres of a polling station.
Ngumbu, who was the party agent at Lumumba polling station, is alleged to have repeatedly stretched his hand pointing the thumb upwards to indicate the UPND party sign to voters that were going into the polling station.
NRP leader Cosmo Mumba was also taken to a police station after he allegedly removed a classroom poster from the wall where voting was taking place.
Mr Mumba alleged that the school poster, which had a broom and washing agents, depicted a slogan used by Patriotic Front (PF) members to mean mopping, which is ‘kolopa.com’.
It was however found that the poster had been stuck on the wall way before the elections and Mr Mumba was referred to the election conflict resolution committee for further action.
