Mr Tembo said the Government appreciates the efforts that Times is making to inform the nation and the world on various subjects.
He said the company has, despite the challenges, shown its tireless efforts in informing Zambians in various parts of the country and in highlighting what the Government was doing in terms of development.
Mr Tembo was speaking in Livingstone on Tuesday when he visited Times Printpak Zambia Livingstone office.
He was in Southern Province to look at the challenges which the media are facing in their operations.
“However, I want to appreciate your tireless efforts in informing the Zambian people on what is happening in the country and in highlighting what the Government has done in terms of development,” Mr Tembo said.
He particularly commended the coverage of the 2013 United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) General Assembly held in Livingstone.
Government is aware of the various challenges Times was facing and measures were being put in place to address the problems.
“We will come and rescue you. Let me assure you that something is being done to normalise your operations, especially that this is a new Government and we have already started the process though we haven’t concluded,” he said.
He said the ministry also has challenges as it is planning for the country’s digital migration later this year.
Mr Tembo assured the people of Southern Province and the country at large that there won’t be any broadcast black out during the country’s transition to digital broadcasting.
