VETERAN Zambian midfielder, Isaac Chansa says he is still game for the Chipolopolo once given another opportunity to play for the nation.
Chansa, a 2012 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) winner, said he had not retired from the national team and would gladly play if called upon.
In an interview in Lusaka yesterday, the 31-year-old said he was still energetic and had a lot more to offer at the national team .
“I have not retired from the national team and I am still a young energetic player, if called upon will be available to play,” the former Orlando Pirates star said.
Chansa last featured for the Chipolopolo on June 6, 2014 in an international friendly against Japan in Tampa, United States of America which Zambia lost 3-4.
He said it was disheartening to see a team that three years ago lifted the AFCON trophy underperforming but still believed the budding players in the current squad had the potential to perform better.
“I feel very bad to see the team not performing well but we have a group of young players and I am sure they can do better,” he said.
Chansa, who played in the Indian League last season, is currently training with Zanaco as he waits for other opportunities.
He said he would soon resume playing for Zanaco once his International transfer Certificate (ICT) was cleared.
“Lately I am training with Zanaco and will start playing soon once my ICT is cleared and I am working hard as I await an opportunity,” he said.
Chansa hinted that he was eyeing the South African and Chinese leagues and would take an offer when an opportunity comes by.
“There are offers in South Africa, China and Thailand if an opportunity comes in China I will take it the league there is competitive most Zambians don’t know because Chinese league is not televised,” he said.
