A GOVERNMENT surveyor has been arrested in connection with the illegal demarcation of a piece of land by suspected political party cadres at Galaunia Farms in Lusaka East area.
The named surveyor, whose identity had been withheld for fear of jeopardising ongoing investigations, is the one who was engaged to demarcate the illegally sold land.

Lusaka Province Police chief, Charity Katanga confirmed the arrest of the surveyor in an interview yesterday, bringing the number of those arrested to 15.
“These investigations are still ongoing for today, only one person has been arrested, this is the surveyor but his name will remain anonymous for now until we are done with our investigations, the said man was in the forefront of demarcating the land, he is still being questioned,” she said.
On Saturday last week, 150 Police officers in riot gear were deployed at Galaunia Farm to stop the illegal demarcations which had been going on for a period of time.
It is alleged that about 1,000 people had acquired the illegal plots which were sold at as low as K550 just after Mutumbi Cemetery, while efforts by the owner to stop the invasion failed.
Most of the trees, including blue gums, have been uprooted using heavy equipment such as graders and caterpillars that were hired by the invaders.
This followed the illegal demarcation of the land by political party cadres.
Apart from cases at Galaunia Farms, the suspected cadres have been trying to take control of private property in Lusaka West, Lusaka South and more recently Matero Township.
