Ms Phiri has also been appointed as Member of the Central Committee (MCC).
Mr Lungu has since directed Ms Phiri to immediately take steps to mobilise the party by enhancing the ongoing membership recruitment to grow the party.
“The democratic credentials of this great party are premised on our collective fundamental belief that we are a united family but one that is open to new ideas and new members,” he said.
President Lungu announced the appointment in a statement released by his Special Assistant for Press and Public Relations, Amos Chanda yesterday.
He said memberships should be drawn from all citizens that were willing to join the party.
Mr Lungu said that the PF was a social-democratic movement founded on the principle of inclusiveness where any willing Zambian was welcome.
Mr Lungu further said that a free and open society was only possible when it was built on a broad-based agenda that spoke to diverse interests of all sections of society.
He said that the PF must always remain a party of those willing to freely associate with one another and prepared to accept the dictates of the moral majority.
