ABOUT seven investors have acquired industrial plots at the Roma Industrial Park in Lusaka, the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) has said.
The ZDA has also called for increased investment in the Multi-facility Economic Zones (MFEZs) established around the country.
MFEZ manager Robert Banda said seven investors had so far signed up at the Roma Industrial park.
“One of the local companies Bubezi has already started the construction of a factory that will be manufacturing roofing tiles.
Another company Mount Meru Milling Limited is putting up a seven story building for commercial and retail purposes.
The facility will also house the headquarters for the company,” Mr Banda said.
Mr Banda said in a statement in Lusaka yesterday that both local and foreign investors in the manufacturing sector should consider investing in the MFEZ as they were already established areas for investment with facilities such as roads, electricity and water in existence.
He said the facilities were of world class standard and investors should not feel insecure about their businesses.
Apart from the physical incentives, there were also fiscal and non-fiscal incentives that investors would not want to miss.
“When you invest more than US$500,000 in the MFEZ you enjoy fiscal incentives such as tax holiday, duty free importation of capital equipment such as machinery and dividends will be paid to investors free of withholding tax, all in the first five years of your investment,” he explained.
Meanwhile Roma Park marketing and sales manager, Muzingo Banda has said in a separate statement that residential developer plots were still available for sale as well as CDP Properties.
Ms Banda said the property developers were in the process of constructing finished houses on the remaining residential offering.
The finished houses would be available for sale in October this year.
