VICE- PRESIDENT Inonge Wina has assured the nation that Government will continue constructing more boarding secondary schools across the country to cater for the growing number of pupils in need of education.
Ms Wina added that Government would also continue to upgrade and rehabilitate old schools to acceptable standards.
The Vice- President said this when she visited Kasama Girls Boarding school in Kasama District yesterday.
According to a ZANIS  Report, Ms Wina said Government wanted to ensure that education was accessible to all eligible children in the country to sustain their future.
She said the improvement of educational infrastructure, especially for girl’s boarding schools was among the priority areas on Government’s development agenda.
Ms Wina said Government was aware of the many challenges being faced in many boarding schools across the country, among them over population of pupils.
The Vice-President also disclosed that Government would soon start constructing more primary and secondary schools in all the newly created districts.
Speaking earlier, Kasama Girl’s Boarding School head teacher Sebias Mulenga thanked Government for its continued support to the school.
Mr  Mulenga, however, called on Government to scale up support to the school in order to be at par with the grant- aided learning institutions in the province.
Meanwhile, Ms Wina has directed the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Services to immediately begin the publicising of the mobile issuance of National Registration Cards (NRCs) currently going on in the country.
She said there were a lot of people in some parts of the country that were eligible to obtain the national document in the ongoing exercise but were not aware that the event was taking place.
The Vice-President called on the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Services to work in collaboration with the Ministry of Home Affairs to ensure that people, especially in rural areas, were informed of the important national exercise.
She said it was only after the masses were made aware of the event that they would obtain their NRCs and later register as voters when the voter registration programme begins later this year.
Ms Wina also called on all the students that were 16 years and above to take advantage of the mobile issuance of NRCs to get the document.
She also advised girls to work hard and avoid vices that could disturb their studies and ultimately hinder their progress in life.
