ABOUT 700 people have been employed by China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) which is currently constructing part of Chipata-Chadiza-Katete Road.
CSCEC project manager Yimo Wang said his company which embarked on the construction of the K710 million road project had employed local people.
He said it was gratifying that his company had given priority to the local people in the employment process.
Mr Yimo said the Chipata-Chadiza-Katete Road would have a lifespan of 40 years.
He said his company was renowned for constructing durable roads.
“The Chipata-Chadiza-Katete Road is going to have a durability of 40 years and it is our desire to construct the road network which can last for longer periods of time,” he said.
In 2013, Government awarded CSCEC a contract for the rehabilitation of major roads feeding into Chadiza District at a cost of K710 million and the project is expected to run for 36 months.
