President Edgar Lungu has said his administration appreciates the private sector as an avenue which Governments intends to use to expand Zambia’s economy.
Mr Lungu said Government realises that the only way economic growth can be attained in Zambia is to graduate towards private sector investment.
“Our focus right now is Public, Private Partnerships (PPP) so that people begin to own businesses and in this regard we are encouraging Zambians to entice investors sufficiently to partner with them,” Mr Lungu said.
He said this when he met a French business delegation that paid a courtesy call on him at State House yesterday.
The delegation comprising of 25 multilateral French companies is in the country to explore investment opportunities in various sectors.
He advised the delegation led by French Ambassador Emmanuel Cohet to explore as many business opportunities as possible in various sectors as Zambia had many potential areas and abundant natural resources.
Mr Cohet said the delegation was the biggest ever to visit Zambia.
Team leader of the delegation Gerard Wolf said the companies were willing to assist Zambia in developing the energy and water sector, infrastructure and city planning.
He said the companies were also willing to open technical schools to empower Zambians with the skills and build capacity in the local people.
