high court 628x350By SYLVIA MWEETWA –

A KAPIRI Mposhi farmer has been convicted for repeatedly defiling his stepdaughter and niece aged 12 and 11 years.
The 38-year-old man has since been committed to the High Court for sentencing for the offence he committed between March 18 and 19 this year.
Davies Mulenga, of Chilipamushi Village in Mukonchi area, was appearing in court for two defilement charges.
During trial, the court heard how Mulenga repeatedly defiled his step-daughter and niece who were under his custody.
The two girls testified before Magistrate Rita Maxwell that Mulenga had sex with them separately but warned them against telling anyone.
The acts happened while his wife was away.
Arresting officer Munalula Mangani testified that he received a complaint stating that the man was sexually abusing the children and that he later went to the area to investigate the matter.
Mr Mangani explained that he interviewed the two children and later took them to the hospital for medical examination.
He said the examination on the two children by medical experts revealed that they had been abused sexually and that he later arrested and charged Mulenga.
Mulenga was found with a case to answer and put on his defence but he maintained his innocence and denied defiling the girls.
