PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu is today expected to launch the relocation of the Kasempa branch for the National Savings and Credit Bank which has been constructed at a cost of K3.5 million.
Currently, NATSAVE is implementing a branch expansion programme and an improvement of existing branch network infrastructure.
NATSAVE is the only branch in Kasempa district in the North-Western part of the country and was opened on January 7, 2003.
The President is also expected to launch the construction of the urban roads projects in the district which will cost about K115, 405, 395.00
North-Western Provincial minister Dawson Kafwaya said this when he addressed journalists in Kasempa.
He said President Lungu was scheduled to officially open the Kasempa NATSAVE branch today.
“As you are aware the bank was first opened by the late President Levy Mwanawasa and it is just correct for his Excellency the President to open the relocation of the branch,” Mr Kafwaya said.
He said the bank would now be able to provide financial services to people of Kasempa in a conducive environment.
Mr Kafwaya said the building was constructed as per bank’s standards, with automated teller machines (ATMs) installed.
“We are happy as Government that we can have a bank in Kasempa and the Small and Medium Entrepreneurs (SMEs) can benefit from the facilities the bank provides,” Mr Kafwaya said.
He said the President would officiate at a ground breaking ceremony for the township roads in Kasempa and Chavuma were he was expected to launch the construction of the township roads.
“From Chavuma we shall go to Zambezi that’s how we will conclude the programme for the President. This will be a three day working visit for the President in the province and if you can recall he had a four-day working visits recently,” he said
The Ministry of Local Government and Housing signed a contract with Asphalt Roads Limited to rehabilitate the urban roads to bituminous level on February 10, 2015.
The construction of the township roads project would commence by June 30, 2015.
