POWER Dynamos are targeting Chipolopolo youngsters Lubambo Musonda and Patson Daka while midfielder Richard Kasonde is heading to archrivals Nkana.
Lubambo trained with his former club Power at Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe on Tuesday before joining Chipolopolo’s African Nations Championship (CHAN) camp in Lusaka on Wednesday.
However, Power coach Tennant Chilumba in an interview yesterday in Kitwe, could not confirm or deny any interest in Daka, who is currently contracted to Nchanga Rangers and is also away on CHAN duty.
“Lubambo trained with us yesterday (Tuesday) but we don’t know his status as at now. We are waiting for word from his agent and we will take it from there when we communicate with his agent.
“We want the boy to come back, I am sure he is happy to be back at power. He was very happy when he trained with his colleagues,” he said.
Lubambo has been in Zambia since the Under-20 elimination from the Africa Youth Championship in Senegal after allegedly parting ways with his Armenian club, Ulisses FC, halfway through a one-year deal after joining them from Power last July.
Chilumba also said he had yet to meet Power’s executive on other targets but confirmed that the Kitwe side was on the market for a striker to replace Alex Mg’onga who joined Gabonese side CF Mounana in May.
“On Patson Daka, I was out, I am yet to get the report from the club secretary and my technical bench. Of course we are looking for a striker but I can’t say we are targeting Patson but we are targeting a striker since Ng’onga left,” he said.
Chilumba, however, confirmed that midfielder and captain Thomas Nyirenda had left for Mozambique to join Ferroviario Beira coached by Wedson Nyirenda.
Power are also courting Zanaco midfielder Sam Chilupe who arrived at Arthur Davies Stadium for a trial on Wednesday but Chilumba said it was too early to say anything official.
Meanwhile, Power secretary Ricky Mamfunda confirmed that Kasonde is training with Nkana.
