INDIA has pledged continued support to grow Zambia’s economy through investment in various sectors.
Indian High Commissioner to Zambia Dharmendra Gaddam said his country had so far collaborated in providing assistance to the country’s health and agriculture sectors as the two nations aimed to continue strengthening bilateral ties.
Mr Gaddam said this in an interview yesterday soon after the Indian community joined the rest of the world in commemorating the first International Day of Yoga.
Yoga, which is an Indian word for union, is more than a set of physical postures or exercises aimed at enhancing good health.
“We are already collaborating in many sectors. For instance, we are involved in the construction of the 650 health posts across the country because three companies doing the work are from India,” Mr
Gaddam said.
He said India was also involved in the agriculture sector where the two countries were working together to increase productivity.
Mr Gaddam said Yoga was crucial to good health of an individual.
He said the physical postures had been used to improve the health of individuals not only in India but across the globe.
Gaddam said currently, Yoga was being used at the University Teaching Hospital for the health of children.
