FIRST Quantum Minerals (FQM) has remained a major contributor to the Zambian public coffers having contributed more than US$3 billion in the last decade.
It is little wonder that the company has won various awards in the country as a good taxpayer and major contributor towards public revenue.
BRIEFCASE would like to urge other investors in the mining and other sectors to emulate FQM and heighten their contributions to the host country.
Why ask for utility bills
THERE are some commercial banks still demanding for water and other utility bills from potential account holders as proof of residence before opening accounts!
BRIEFCASE feels, in this Information and Communication Technology era, such financial institutions should come up with more suitable requirements than this.
There is need to move with time and question the relevance of some of the existing requirements.
Break Mulungushi silence
THERE has been deafening silence on the announced reopening of the Mulungushi Textiles in Kabwe by the authorities and the investor.
Obviously the business community in the former mining town has been anxiously waiting to see reopening of the fabric manufacturing firm.
There is need for relevant wings of Government to quickly tell the nation what has happened and the possible way forward.
