By SARAH MWANZA –

TENANTS occupying the former African National Congress (ANC) flats in Lusaka’s Villa Elizabetha have appealed to Government to investigate the sale of the flats to registered trustees of Women for Change (WFC).
The tenants, who have vowed not to vacate the flats, suspect irregularities in the manner the flats were sold.
Irate tenants occupying the flats on Thursday protested against their eviction following a new acquisition by WFC after court order.
Tenant’s spokesperson Towela Chipeta said following claims from WFC that the organisation had the flats from ANC, it was worth noting that ANC, according to Ministry of Lands, did not legally own the property.
She said according to the Ministry of Lands, the flats belonged to a company called Star Furniture Manufactures.
“In this regard we appeal to President Lungu to help us in this matter,” she said.
