LSMFEZ managing director Fortune Kamusaki said local and international companies are among the firms that have been permitted to start construction works.
He said at the on-going Zambia International Trade Fair (ZITF) yesterday that about $300 million would be spent on the construction of the approved companies at the site.
“Among the 15 approved companies are those dealing in Agriculture, Motor assembly and Pharmaceuticals. At the moment, Zambian Breweries and NRB Pharmaceuticals have started construction works.
The remaining companies are set to start their works soon,” he said.
He said that once completed, the 15 companies would contribute to Zambia’s value addition and create employment for the local people.
Meanwhile, Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) spokesperson Margaret Chimanse said Government was marketing and making the MFEZ attractive to local and international investors.
“All the MFEZs have proper roads, electricity, water and enough space to house a number of comapanies, We are  encouraging value addition and therefore, we want local firms to register their businesses with the relevant  authorities so that they can be accommodated in the MFEZ,” she said.
Ms Chimanse said ZDA was ready to give incentives to small scale entrepreneurs provided their businesses were registered.
She, however, urged people to move to rural areas where Government was rolling  out  incentives to entrepreneurs.
