By FELIX MALUNGA –
ZAMBIA’S golf prodigy, Madalitso Muthiya hit a disappointing four-over-par 76 to slip into joint second position at the Tusker Malt Lager Uganda Open Championship in Kampala
Muthiya had taken a two stroke lead on the opening day on Wednesday after firing an amazing five-under-par 67 at Kitante Golf Club.
But during Thursday’s second round, Muthiya could not maintain his opening day rhythm and allowed local top amateur, Ronald Otile to take a five shot lead going into the third round.

Muthiya’s sloppy second round performance gave South African, Michael Palmer, who was two shots behind to close in and join the Zambian on one-under-par 143 after 36 holes.
While Muthiya still has a chance of winning the tournament, defending champion, Deo Akope was among the top Ugandan casualties after failing to make Thursday’s cut.
After competing in Uganda, Muthiya will head back to South Africa where he has established himself as a competive player on the Sunshine Tour.
He will next week compete in the Sun City Challenge while compatriot Dayne Moore will have to negotiate his way to the final competition after participating in Tuesday’s qualifying tournament.
