ZAMBIA’S top golfer, Madalitso Muthiya on Friday fired another five-under-par 67 to stay on course as hot favourite to win the 2015 Tusker Malt Lager Uganda Open Championship in Kampala.
Muthiya, who had opened his campaign in Uganda with a 67 on Wednesday, took a healthy four stroke advantage over Kenyan Riz Charania while his South African rival, Michael Palmer dropped a massive 10 shots behind.
The Zambian, who had a miserable four-over-par 76 on the second day, is now on six-under-par 210 after 54 holes but trails shock leader, Ugandan amateur, Ronald Otile by three strokes.
Charania, who had a 68 on the third day, has two-under-par-214, two shots ahead of his compatriot Stefan Engel and a three better than another Kenyan, James Karanja, who has managed one-over-par 271 after 54 holes.
Uganda’s top professional, Herman Mutaawe is lying sixth on the leaderboard, 11 strokes behind Otile, the Ugandan amateur champion.
The rains have been disrupting the proceedings at Kitante Golf Club.
