IN a bid to improve fertiliser distribution, Zambian Fertiliser is setting up a new plant of US$2 million investment at the Lusaka South Multi-Facility Economic Zone (LS-MFEZ).
Zambian Fertilisers senior marketing development manager Peter Sichamba said the new plant under the MFEZ would ensure higher production.
He said this in an interview in Lusaka yesterday at the on-going 89th Zambia Agriculture and Commercial Show (ZACS).
Mr Sichamba said the new plant would ensure that the organisation delivered high quality fertiliser to the farmers in Zambia and increase production.
“Going by this year’s show theme of innovation, we are innovating to ensure higher production so that we can be able to satisfy the Zambian market,” he said.
The organisation wants to supply crop-specific fertiliser to small-scale and commercial farmers.
Mr Sichamba commended the Government for the enabling environment which was promoting investment and trade in Zambia.
He said that this year, his organisation was supplying fertiliser to the Zambia National Service to promote production in agriculture camps.
The organisation is the sole distributor of Kynoch fertiliser  from South Africa.
“This is a high-value type of fertiliser which will benefit the Zambian farmers,” he said.
Mr Sichamba said sourcing the product from within Zambia would assist commercial farmers as they would not need to import the product.
