THE Patriotic Front (PF) has slammed Rainbow Party leader Wynter Kabimba over remarks that the ruling party is using funds acquired under the Eurobond to finance general elections next year.
PF deputy secretary general Mumbi Phiri and chairperson for elections Emmanuel Mpankata said that Mr Kabimba should not mislead the nation by issuing alarming statements.

Mr Kabimba alleged at a Press conference in Lusaka yesterday that the PF was being desperate by showing that it had made progress on infrastructure projects initiated by late President Michael Sata.
“It is thus looking for fresh money to cover up for its misuse and squander public resources that were previously mobilized. It is an act of desperation that will ultimately bring this country on the verge of bankruptcy,” Mr Kabimba said.
Ms Phiri challenged Mr Kabimba to produce evidence rather than issue unsubstantiated statements.
She mentioned a number of development programmes that included the revamping of railway lines, power hydro and roads, saying Mr Kabimba should not gain political mileage over baseless claims.
“Mr Kabimba should produce evidence rather than issue statements that are baseless and using such to gain political mileage,” Ms Phiri said.
On the other hand, Mr Mpankata said it was sad that Mr Kabimba, who was part of the system as Justice minister when the Eurobond funds were acquired, should today accuse the ruling party of misusing the funds for purposes of elections.
He said many development projects had been done using the Eurobond and accusing the PF of diverting the money was total fabrication which citizens needed to ignore at all costs.
Mr Mpankata asked the nation not to succumb to such lies by the former PF secretary general and that the party was headed for another victory in next year’s elections.
“Zambians should not be subjected to such lies. Wynter was the secretary general of the party as well as Justice minister who was part of the Euro proceedings. His opening up today should be questioned,” Mr Mpakanta said.
Mr Mpankata said Mr Kabimba was gaining his political confidence as a result of winning a by-election recently but reminded him that this should not make him complacent because that was nothing in terms of winning the general elections.
“Wynter is dreaming. His winning of a by-election in Isoka should not make him politically complacent because the political confidence is fake.
He was PF SG and when he was there many left the party but now PF has grown and we are winning without any difficulties,” he said.
